Directed by Craig Brewer
This week I chose to re watch one of my favorites because I just discovered it is on Netflix. I watched the new version of Footloose. It’s hard for me to decide whether I like the new or old version better, but I chose to go with the new one because well the guy characters are cuter, ha!
Footloose is about a small town where there was once an accident after a dance get together that left 4 or 5 high school kids dead. After the accident the town hall members come together and decide on a dancing ban, where it is not allowed to dance in public anymore. One of the main town hall members is the town minister, his son was one of the kids who died in the accident. However, he also has a teenage daughter who doesn’t feel that she should have to continue to be punished because of an accident that happened years ago. A boy from Boston moves into town to live with his aunt and uncle, and has no idea about the ban, and once he finds out, he too wants to try and end it. The movie goes on with both teenagers working together to try and come up with a solution, and of course, they end up together in the end.
I really liked this movie, because it is different from the original but still has similar elements. It is somewhat of a light hearted fun movie, with a bit of seriousness strewn throughout the movie.
