Jack Reacher (2012) directed by Christopher McQuarrie is about a former military policeman and homicide investigator, Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) who is investigating a murder case involving ex soldier James Barr. James Barr is the only suspect in a case involving the murder of five innocent civilians with a sniper rifle. When Barr is questioned by the District Attorney his response is only a piece of paper with the words, “Get Jack Reacher” scrawled on it. Jack Reacher works in tandem with Helen, James Barrs defense attorney (Rosamund Pike) to discover the horrendous truth behind this case. The truth that endangers both of their lives.
Jack Reacher is one of Tom Cruise’s most exciting roles. Although the somewhat long movie clocks in at 2 hours and 11 minutes, every minute is filled with suspense and action. This film kept my attention more than any of the Mission Impossible films. I enjoyed Tom Cruises role as the relentless good guy and the evil that seems to be too powerful to overcome. I also thought there were some interesting shots such as the shots through the scope of the sniper and the montages of the shooting victims. The film may not be for everybody but I think it’s a must-see!
