Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011)

Directed By: Tomas Alfredson
Synopsis:
It’s the 1970s near London, England, during the height of the cold war. Master spy George Smiley (Gary Oldman) is called out of retirement to find out who amongst them is, in fact, a soviet spy. Even harder to believe is that the suspects are in the room with George, sitting at the same table, and each accusing the other of espionage. The secret investigation of these high ranking men in powerful positions, is a dangerous mission for George and his allies. George and his right hand man, Peter Guillam (Benedict Cumberbatch) must leave no stone unturned in their investigation of The Circus. This is a story of murder, betrayal, and treason.
Review:
I enjoyed the pace of this movie, upbeat but not too fast. I found myself trying to guess who the spy was throughout the film. A good mystery is always pretty fun, but then you add in the talent of the cast and that makes it a home run. This is a clever adaptation of John Le Carre’s novel. The movie made fans of the novel pretty happy when it came out, saying how close to the original it is. For those of you who like a great thriller, this is your movie.
